My name is Laphina Jemimah Wesongah and I am 13 years old. I am one of 7 children, and 1 of 6 girls in my home.
When I was about two years old, I suffered a serious cause of malaria. This caused me to be admitted to the local hospital where I was kept there for over 3 months before I was able to return home. While this caused financial struggle with my parents, they were able to make ends meet and take care of me during my time of illness.
During my time in primary education, I remember to keep God’s word close to my heart during any and all of the challenges that I faced. From Psalm 23, I remember that “God is my shepherd” and as it says in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known”. These scriptures helped me realize that even though the path to success was a rough one, that God would be by my side helping me along my journey.
My hobbies include running the loom race and also legball, one of our favorite sports here in Kenya. Other than sports, I also find joy in participating in drama and acting. When I am not working on my studies, you can find me practicing my singing and praising my God. During my time of worship, I am also able to draw strength from God to handle any daily obstacles that I may face.
Through God I promise to work hard in my secondary education and am very blessed to be a part of Living Hope High School. My prayer is that I am able to get a sponsorship that will help my family and I as I continue in my educational journey.
